Networking on Gather Town space

Hi everyone! The first UbuCon Asia coming in less then a month! On this first UbuCon Asia, We’ll also have an additional virtual space: Gather Town space We’ll use both Eventyay and Gather Town. Eventyay for ticketing, timetable, video conference calls and Sponsor/Partner Community information page(Exhibition page) Gather Town space for Virtual booth(for sponsors and partner communities) and Networking between attendees! Since we made decision on this very recently, Other then Virtual booth details, We don’t have plans on other details yet.

一緒にカンファレンスを作りませんか

アジアには、さまざまなLinuxとオープンソースのカンファレンスがあります。たとえば、このようなカンファレンスです。 openSUSE.Asia GNOME.Asia LibreOffice Asia Conference PyCon APAC FOSSASIA Summit その他いろいろなカンファレンス… 私が以前、Ubuntu Koreaコミュニティの代表だったとき、海外のいくつかのカンファレンスに参加してきました。 新しいことを学んだり、新しい人に会う目的もありましたが海外のローカルUbuntuコミュニティ、特に韓国に近い地域のコミュニティと交流という目的もありました。海外のカンファレンスに参加して、いろんな地域の、さまざまな方たちと会いましたが残念ながら海外のUbuntuコミュニティの人たちと会うことは、ほとんど、ありませんでした。また、アジアのUbuntuカンファレンスもありませんでした。 イベントから帰国して、アジアにカンファレンスは多いのに、なぜ、Ubuntuのカンファレンスだけがないのだろうと考えていました。Ubuntuは、ポピュラーなLinuxディストリビューションで、さまざまな分野で利用されています。また、組織化された大規模なコミュニティもあるなら、国際的なカンファレンスがあってもいいのではないか。 もちろん、国際的なカンファレンスはあります（Ubucon EuropeやUbucon Latin America、Ubucon@SCALEなど）。ですが、アジア向けのカンファレンスは、まだ、ありませんでした。 Ubuntu Asiaカンファレンスを開催したいという気持ちは持っていました。しかし、大きな会場を借りる負担、時間や費用の負担、韓国国内のコミュニティ運営など、個人的な事情が忙しく心に留めておくだけで実行するつもりはありませんでした。 そして、2020年。COVID-19の大流行により学校や会社、さまざまなコミュニティ活動や大型カンファレンスも従来のオフラインでの開催が難しくなりました。それにより、大部分がオンラインに移行しました。オンラインイベントには多くの制約があります。参加者は直接会えないので、交流なども難しい状況です。また、オフラインでは可能なプログラムもオンラインでは制約も受けます。 しかし、私は、この状況がUbucon Asiaの開催には良いチャンスだと思いました。イベントやイベント準備活動のほとんどは、オンラインで行われます。イベントを企画進行する人にとっては、会場を借りたり、現場のインフラ構築（Wi-Fi、参加者確認システム、中継システム、スポンサーブース、おやつの提供）など運営に対する負担が少なく気軽に始められます。参加者の立場からは、海外カンファレンスに参加するために航空券や宿泊などに高い費用を払わなくても自宅から気軽に参加できるメリットもあります。 Ubucon Asiaを企画、開催するために、Ubuntu Koreaコミュニティのコアメンバーたちと議論しました。そして、アジアのUbuntuコミュニティに連絡を取り、Ubucon Asiaをオンラインで開催しようと提案しました。以前、連絡したことがあるコミュニティに連絡したり、海外のカンファレンスで知り合った方を通じて連絡も取りました。そうして、多くの試みをした結果、さまざまな地域のUbuntuコミュニティとチームを組むことができました。 ですが、参加提案してもタイミングが悪く参加ができないコミュニティや、参加していても人数が少なく、運営に必要な人数には足りないケースもあり、これから継続して活動のためには、まだまだ解決することが、たくさんあります。また、Ubucon Asiaは初めての開催で、イベント規模や形態、企画の進行や意思決定の方法なども多くの議論が必要になります。 そこで、Ubucon Asiaに参加して一緒に企画、運営してくれる人やコミュニティを募集しています。アジア地域に住んでいてオープンソースやLinux、Ubuntuなどに興味があり、Ubucon Asiaの活動を一緒にやることに興味のある方は、ぜひ参加してください。Ubucon Asia 2021は、2021年の第3〜第4四半期開催を目標に準備しています。カンファレンスの中心メンバーを確定させ、2月からはカンファレンスの検討事項に対して本格的な議論（スポンサー、発表者の募集、ボランティアの募集、イベントプログラム、ビデオの字幕作成など）を始める予定です。 Ubucon Asiaチームにコアメンバーとして参加したい方は、今月末（2021年1月末）までに メール([email protected])、または、Telegram(sukso96100)まで連絡をお願いします。個人で参加した場合は、本人に関する簡単な紹介を書いてください。コミュニティで参加したい場合は、コミュニティについて紹介してください。 Ubuntuコミュニティでなくても、Ubuntuと関連があればチームに参加できます。 Ubucon Asiaの計画や状況については、Ubuntu Wikiから確認できます。 多くの皆さまからの参加をお待ちしております。
